“ The Liverpool Daily Post is delighted to take part in this initiative to encourage local entrepreneurs to fulfil their dreams. Encouraging and developing the region's entrepreneurial spirit is key to stimulating economic growth, particularly in a place like Merseyside where there is a history of low business start up and survival rates. Anything we can do to help overcome that legacy has to be good for the community that our newspaper serves.
Running your own business can be an exciting and rewarding time, but it is also full of challenges and obstacles that must be overcome. This initiative with Dominique Faversham Group has the virtue of providing the sort of practical support that should make all the difference to the winning entrepreneur's ability to overcome those obstacles.”
Successful entrepreneurs share a number of common characteristics, passion, drive, stamina and focus, but we all share one vital instinct: unerring self belief. What better way to build the confidence of budding entrepreneurs in our region than by arming them with the most valuable business and personal asset - knowledge. The Search has created a sustainable model supported by the business community, academic community, regional media, agencies and charities. We have developed a programme to enable the transfer of skills, knowledge and expertise to the winner and Merseyside Entrepreneur of the Year - 2008, through bespoke coaching and mentoring, underpinned by practical business support and financial security.
Talent abounds in our region, and by working collectively we can have a real impact on the entrepreneurial culture. I have been delighted by the overwhelming response to this venture and look forward to The Search becoming an annual event, supporting entrepreneurs in the region not just once, but year after year. As we look ahead to Liverpool's ensuing Capital of Culture status, we have much to celebrate.”
